LANSING—The Michigan Catholic Conference (MCC) today announced that Paul Stankewitz has joined the MCC staff as Associate for Public Policy. Stankewitz will advocate for education and regulatory issues on behalf of the Conference.

“We are extremely pleased to have Paul join our staff,” said MCC Vice-President for Public Policy Paul A. Long. “He brings a wealth of public policy experience that will enhance the Conference’s advocacy efforts.”

Prior to joining the MCC staff, Stankewitz served as City Manager of Onaway from 1988–2001, when he left to take a position as director of the Michigan Catholic Rural Life Coalition. He will be responsible for advocating to the state Legislature on education issues as well as regulatory policies that preserve and protect essential services needed by the state’s most vulnerable population. Stankewitz will also be responsible for staffing the MCC Education Committee, which is comprised of Catholic education leaders from across the state.

Stankewitz holds a bachelor’s degree in public policy as well as a master’s degree in public administration, both from Michigan State University.
